Air handling units and fresh-air units work as part of a larger ventilation system. The right filter format is determined by the equipment housing and the intended filtration stage, not only by the label on the old filter.
Common HVAC filtration conversations
AHUs, fresh-air units, central air-conditioning systems, and HVAC ventilation systems can use one or more filter stages. Depending on the equipment design, the arrangement may include a pre-filter, a panel or pleated filter, a pocket filter, and another downstream stage selected for the system requirements.
When replacing filters, compare the frame dimensions, pocket length or depth, installation direction, sealing arrangement, and the available space in the filter housing. Airflow conditions and the operator's maintenance practice are also important to the selection discussion.
