How to choose ceiling filter media for spray booth intake air.

Confirm the filter position, ceiling layout, and maintenance method before choosing a material or roll format.

Ceiling filter media is installed on the intake side of a spray booth, often above the coating zone. Its role is to help condition supplied air before it enters the work area. Selection should follow the booth layout and operating process, not appearance alone.

Understand the installation point

In an overhead air-supply arrangement, ceiling media may sit in a ceiling grid, plenum, tensioning system, or other support arrangement. Confirm how the media is supported, how it is accessed, and whether every ceiling section uses the same size.

Ceiling media is different from exhaust media. Ceiling filtration is installed in the intake path, while paint arrestor media is installed where overspray is collected. A complete booth request should map the airflow from the initial intake to the exhaust outlet.

Selection factors to confirm

Installation and replacement planning

Install the media evenly and secure it according to the booth design. Loose edges, gaps, or damaged sections can allow bypass air. Before replacement, inspect the ceiling grid, seals, access panels, and holding frames rather than changing the media alone.

Replacement timing should follow the booth maintenance procedure and take account of visual condition, airflow behavior, and any available monitoring. Ceiling media is one part of a controlled coating environment; it cannot correct contamination generated inside the booth or unrelated coating defects.

What to include with an inquiry

Send photos of the booth ceiling, all installation dimensions, an existing sample where available, the required media format, and the number of ceiling sections. Describe the booth type, coating process, and any current installation or maintenance issue. This gives the supplier a clearer basis for a recommendation.
